Feng Shui Bedroom Sleep

Feng Shui For A Restful Sleep

In traditional Chinese metaphysics, a bedroom is labelled as a significant place for rest and rejuvenation. Good Feng Shui aims to create a peaceful and harmonious environment in the bedroom, which allows its occupants to have a good night’s sleep and wake up feeling vitalised.

Bed Placement

The bed must be placed in a commanding position in the room, i.e. away from the door, with a view of the two sides of the room. The head of the bed must be placed against a solid wall as a “support”.

Colours

The colour of the walls in the room must be kept light, such as off white and pastels. Strong and bright colours should be kept away. Bold red, bright yellow or black colour should not be used in the bedroom, as it will create an energetic atmosphere.

Lighting

The bedroom must be kept dark and cool. Try to avoid hanging mirrors, pictures or decorations which will reflect light back into the bedroom. A bedside lamp can be used for night time reading.

Decor

The decorations used in the bedroom should always be peaceful and calming. This includes avoiding paintings and pictures that evoke a feeling of distress such as pictures of battles, family heirlooms, intense photos, etc. Instead, hang pictures of nature like a waterfall, beach scape, a meadow, etc. A fish tank can also be used to add a more peaceful atmosphere in the bedroom.

Adding essential oils like lavender, chamomile and bergamot to the bedroom can also helps in creating a comfortable atmosphere in the bedroom. Soft music or sounds of nature can also be used for relaxation.
